Women Authors Recommendations from Mike Cane

PATRICIA MELO!! Only two of her crime fic novels in English, but she's great. Might have more writers for you.

Dostoyevsky's Last Night by Cristina Peri Rossi is excellent.

Nancy Kress's Beggars in Spain trilogy is an absolute MUST read, especially THESE days. Antidote to Ayn Rand!

Pat Cadigan is great. So is Patricia McKillip -- but she does mostly fantasy, which I can't get into.

Two Girls, Fat & Thin by Mary Gaitskill -- more Rand antidote (book is about Rand fans!). Gaitskill otherwise uneven.

Denise Mina too. And, tho uneven AND ghost-written, Craig Rice (who is a woman!)
