I've been getting a lot of questions about the twitter for food campaign and how to use it, so here is a quick Q&A.
What is Twitter For Food?
Twitter for Food is not an organization, it's an event. I started #twitterforfood on Twitter to gain awareness myself and get others to physically and financially connect with the problem of hunger around the world. When you Twitter For Food, you're not just sending money to change someone else, you're changing yourself in a very small way.
Who Does Twitter For Food Support?
There is a list of organizations on the home page that fight hunger locally and globally and more are added each week. This is not an all inclusive list, so let me know who I'm missing!
How Do I Use Twitter For Food?
For the average Twitter user: just tweet or ReTweet the #twitterforfood tweets you see and join in on the 1st of each month. It's that simple. You can cut and paste the tweet below or make your own and add the url of your favorite organization. It's important to use the #twitterforfood Hashtag as that is how I am tracking success.
For the Hunger Relief Organizations: Twitter For Food will happen the first of every month so we can get traction together. You can use the tweet below or create your own and use your own url. Want to be added to the list or join in in some other way? @HungerNoMore or e-mail me. twitterforfood@gmail.com
Use This Tweet Or Create Your Own
#twitterforfood Skip a meal July 1st and donate the savings to world hunger. http://tr.im/m1Pq
What's The Catch?
There's not one. Currently I'm using spare time and social media knowledge to create these events and communicate the mission. Hunger relief organizations do not need another layer of cost, so there is no fee for this. Want to help with the website or any other way? @HungerNoMore or e-mail me. twitterforfood@gmail.com
When Do You Start Tweeting?
It's never to early to get the word out, but we need to get really busy on this around the first of the month. We need some BIG tweeters to join in, so if any of you know people in the top 100 twitter list, get them to join in around the 1st of each month. Last month we had Whole Foods join in which was great! Oprah? Ellen? Ashton? Barack? Twitter? are you listening?
Once again, thanks to everyone for last month's effort. July 1st #twitterforfood needs to be 5 times as big!
Simply,
Tim
