Tuesday, January 5th is the first #twitterforfood event in 2010. Skip a meal with thousands on Twitter and use the savings to fund a local or global hunger relief organization!
Let's kick the year off with a BIG #twitterforfood event and raise money to help get food banks and hunger relief organizations off on the right foot. The need for food grew in 2009 and giving decreased for most organizations. #twitterforfood is a way for those of us on Twitter that are passionate about hunger relief to spread the word locally and globally and get people to do something about it.
What do you do? Starting today, post and RT the news about #twitterforfood coming on 1/5/2010 and get people to join in. A simple post like this works:
Skip a meal on Tue. 1/5/10 with thousands on Twitter & use the savings to fund hunger relief. http://ow.ly/RYvH
You can use the url for Twitterforfood.com or add in the url to your favorite hunger charity locally or globally.
We'll do this every month on the 1st Tuesday of each month to give people on twitter a chance to remember those who don't have enough food and in a small way identify with them through skipping a meal and then doing something about it. It may not seem like much, but 100,000 giving $7 a month would be over $8 million a year we could raise together. Since there are 30 million people on Twitter, if we could just reach 10% we could raise over $250 million a year for hunger relief.
Join us this month and every month to work on the 4 a's of hunger!
simply,
Tim
